The Challenge
Employees at eEye Digital Security, a leader in vulnerability and security research company, were receiving too much spam emails. "The onslaught of spam messages was having a negative impact on employee productivity and was causing a shortage of storage space on our exchange servers," said Michael Behnam, IT Manager at eEye Digital Security. Additionally, because many spam messages are phishing attacks, the company was seeing an increase in spyware and other malware on their network being detected at the client level using eEye Blink Endpoint Protection. The increase in malware forced the IT department to spend additional time cleaning infected machines.

The Requirements
Behnam wanted a single solution that would solve his web, mail and network security issues. He continued: "I didn't want to manage seperate products for each issue. I was looking for a single solution for all issues."

The Solution
Behnam's CEO suggested he look at the Astaro Security Gateway because he was familiar with the product from past positions. "Once I researched and tested the Astaro Security Gateway there was no reason to keep researching other products, I knew it was the right solution. It is easy to use and had all the functions needed."

He deployed an Astaro Security Gateway 525, 425 abd 220 at his headquarters to protect the 75 employees there.

Success with Astaro
The Astaro Security Gateway was able to help increase productivity in the IT department. Additionally, the superior reporting offered by Astaro allowed Behnam to see that eEye Digital Security's employees were unknowingly surfing malicious sites and sometimes downloading malicious files. Behnam was also able to solve this problem with the Astaro Security Gateway's content filtering capabilities. He explained, "I was able to block access to these malicious sites so that our network and systems are more secure. However, some employees needed access to these sites. Astaro's flexibility made it possible for me to grant access to these sites for some employees while blocking access for others".
